Johannesburg – Filling the biggest stage in South Africa may appear to some as an unattainable accomplishment. It was, however, not as far-fetched as many indicated and Cassper Nyovest is about realize that dream for a second consecutive year.
Refiloe Phoolo, better known to fans as ‘Cassper Nyovest ‘, set out in 2015, in becoming the first South African musician to sell out and pack in the Dome, a venue considered to be in the same class as some of the most prestigious in the world, like Madison Square Gardens and the Staple Centre. With a capacity of 20 000 people, Nyovest eradicated any previous belief that local talent could only be included as curtain raisers as opposed to headlining and cram in stadium shows.
#FillUpTheDome was the slogan used which was soon adopted by many promoters across the continent, all of whom identify it as a South African initiative.
This year, the slogan is #FillUpOrlandoStadium as the recording artist and record producer has an even bigger goal to achieve; filling up the Orlando Stadium, whose maximum capacity is 40,000 people, twice as many as those reached in 2015.
“Filling up the Orlando Stadium may appear an unachievable task but I am confident we will fill the venue. A lot of hard work has gone into the preparation of this project but I am extremely excited and I’m really looking forward to delivering an outstanding show” stated Nyovest.
The rapper, who recently announced to fans that he was embarking on a new sound, released his new hip-hop flavored track “Too Legit” this week. Produced by an unknown producer already fans are acclaiming it to be the biggest song of the year and it will be part of the set list at the #FillUpOrlandoStadium performance on the 29th October.
Sponsor’s this year include MTN as well as the Department of Arts and Culture, who will play a major role in the quest for Cassper’s dream to #FillUpOrlando Statdium.
