As most of you know Mos Def (Yasiin Bey) has been living in Cape Town, South Africa since 2013 and was arrested in January 2016 whilst trying to leave the country on a world passport, which is not recognized as a legal travel document in South Africa.
It was recently announced that Mos Def will be allowed to leave South Africa after he apologized for breaking immigration laws.
“[He] has unreservedly apologized to the government of South Africa. The department is satisfied with the apology [and] will withdraw the charges against him,” it said in a statement released by the home affairs.
Mos Def has now been declared an “undesirable person” in South Africa and won’t be able to re-enter the country. but the below tweet from the department of Home Affairs says anything is possible.
