As we all know by now, A$AP Rocky is a fashion icon and has an abundance of friends in the fashion industry.
From the start of his career he was known as one of very few rappers (if not the only) wearing exclusive pieces from designers such as Raf Simons and Jeremy Scott. Along with this, Rocky claimed to be responsible for the resurgence in popularity of Gold jewelry in the Hip-Hop community circa 2013.
To sum it up, fashion and music-wise, Rocky’s been a trendsetter from the start- without the intention of starting trends but simply the intention of standing out.
In 2014, Rocky teamed up with Salvatore Ferragamo for a campaign speaking on influential, contemporary men.
After that, he kicked off 2016 with a collaboration between Guess and A$AP which followed the launch of his apparel line VLONE.
Then recently, in the month of June, he dropped an 8 piece range with high-fashion designer J.W Anderson under the name “JWA x A$AP Rocky and AWGE“. (The meaning of AWGE is still unknown.)
Finally, Rocky has just been announced as one of the faces for Dior’s FW16 campaign.
These are all very notable successes considering the reputation of each brand and the fact that Rocky, a boy from Harlem NY, has been famous for only a couple of years with just two albums under his belt.
With regards to his authentic fusion of fashion and music, A$AP Rocky is proving to be an expert and, quite possibly, a legend in the making.
